Review of The Joneses (2010) by Danimet — 26 Nov 2022
The movie does a wonderful job critiquing the world's present consumerism and capitalism even as it contains its own share of clichés. It also features captivating and memorable performances from, at least, Amber Heard and Demi Moore while delivering entertaining comedic moments from beginning to end.
That said, there were two shortcomings that I found in the movie which include its poor gender and racial representations. For instance, the women characters in the movie are portrayed negatively as being destructively ruled by their own desires while the White men in it are cast as martyrs and moral heroes.
Despite this, I'd recommend the movie to most people who are looking for a fun movie that'll leave them with some important lessons to think about.
