Review of The Joneses (2010) by John T — 03 Sep 2010
Duchovny and Moore are surprisingly affecting as the lead "couple" and the entire cast delivers solid performances. There's a message about consumerism and marketing in here, but, far from beating you over the head with it, the movie lets it fade into the background in favor of creating real characters and a scarily-plausible story.
The plot is a slow burn, creating tension near the very beginning and letting it build up, making the final resolution more effective than it would be on its own. Recommended.
