Review of The Joneses (2010) by Rob L — 11 Sep 2010
Despite the presence of Demi Moore and David Duchovny, this portrait of the monied classes of Atlanta's swanky Buckhead neighbourhood is a film based on a superb premise - the logical end point of consumer society and a critique of undercover marketing: a practice that is probably a lot more widespread than we think.
It's dark in places but probably could have been a lot more so. Hollywood cliches impringe just a little too much, particularly towards the end of the movie, but in all, it's a ideas based piece that may come to be viewed as underrated in years to come.
