Review of The Joneses (2010) by Noudie D — 22 Oct 2010
An interesting and original idea that works most of the time...
The casting of Duchovney is great as he brings that laid back and laconic witt with ease to his budding salesman. Demi Moore also puts in some good work for a change, making a good partner for Duchovny.
Where the film falls down is where it starts to grow a concience in the final third of the film. An opportunity was present to make a comment on the effects of advertising and the extents that corporations will go to to market their products but instead we get a redemption tale that doesn't really fit with what we have seen before.
That's s shame as the first 2 thirds of the film have a good biting wit and some very amusing moments. Also, having Amber Heard in any film instantly makes a film watchable in my book....
