Review of The Joneses (2010) by Matthew A — 17 Oct 2011
Recommended to me by my Dad, I was skeptical after watching TiMER not so long ago. TiMER was another movie with a creative plot and produced by a smaller production company. TiMER, however, was an hour and a half of frustration and boredom.
The Joneses looked as if it were headed that direction, but instead turned out to be an entertaining movie that continued to draw me in as the plot progressed. Demi Moore and Amber Heard couldn't have been better picks, those girls were stunning.
David Duchovny was an absolute stud. His character progression was perfect. You just had to like him by the middle and love him by the end. The Joneses explored the deep issues of commercialism and consumerism while still providing an entertaining watch.
The artsy friends will like this (plenty of beautiful shots, especially the pool scene at the end) and a person looking for a deep-thinking movie will like this as well. Don't forget the ever-lovely Demi Moore's intriguing partnership with David Duchovny.
And last but not least, thumbs up for an Amber Heard nude scene.
