Funniest rags to riches to rags story. Steve Martin, writer and star, took his non-traditional brand of stand up to the big screen. The curve-balls keep coming. More hits than misses in my opinion. Though Navin is less funny when he's a rich entrepreneur.
It is almost the "greed is good" 80's. This is Carl Reiner's first of four pairings with Martin. Lots of great quotes. I especially love the "I don't need anything. Except this [ashtray].
.." scene. Bernadette Peters, as Marie, is cute as a button and the song that she shares with Martin on the beach is also a fun bit.
