Review of The Jerk (1979) by Kevin S — 12 Oct 2014
One of the earliest and greatest work of Steve Martin is THE JERK. Playing Navin Johnson who when he was born was dropped on the porch and raised by a black family in Mississippi. Wanted to be a somebody he leaves his family to work at a gas station and gets attacked by a lunitic, becomes the inventor of the opti-grab, works at a carnival and is smitten with a lady motorcycle racer, and falls in love with another lady.
He goes from poor to rich right back to being poor. Carl Reiners great directing and Steve Martin great performance and together they bring us a magnificent comedy. When laughing from start to finish you know you just watched a great comedy and thats what I found myself doing when watching this.
Steve martin proves why he is one of the greatest comedians of all time. THE JERK is another timeless great classic.
