Review of The Jerk (1979) by Hawke Cross — 07 Jun 2008
Ahh, Steve Martin, where did you go? It seems like the actor in Cheaper by the Dozen and Pink Panther is a cheap imitation of you. The Jerk is much like the Naked Gun, Spaceballs, or Airplane in comedic style, and it is brilliant.
The situational comedy is awesome. You can't resist a white guy living in a southern black family and thinking he's one of theirs to not be funny. It's funnier than Dave Chappelle's black blind white supremacist, and that's saying a lot.
Overall, the film is very good and I recommend it to people who enjoy the style of comedy of the 70's and 80's.
