Review of The Jacket (2005) by Radhika N — 23 Jul 2008
Like many other time-travel (or jump) movies, this one doesn't quite hang together. A war veteran gets falsely accused of murder and is put into an insane asylum. There, a creepy doctor tries a new treatment on him where he is given drugs after being wrapped up in a strait "jacket" and then put in a metal body drawer.
While in this state, he travels to the future and meets his love (who was a little girl in the past) and finds out that he died in the past (yes, confusing). With her help (meaning he would seek this treatment again and again though it was cruel and unusual and not needed) he starts to investigate his death.
After overcoming all the witnesses who behave as if there was indeed a conspiracy somewhere in the past (despite there being no need for it when one does learn how he dies) he eventually gets to the truth but is unable to prevent it.
But he is able to change enough things in the past to see that his love has a better life than when he first met her in the future. Take this one as it comes to enjoy it. It is an ok film.
