Review of The Jacket (2005) by Steven B — 13 Sep 2008
George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh, in a post-Solaris fugue I'm sure, midwife this ugly beast through the hands of one hack screenwriter and one styleless director. (The DVD alternate endings reveal how unsure everyone was.
) What could've been a strange poetic ambiguity (maybe about time travel), is an overt shrug...a magician whose light-up bow tie distracts you from his clumsy-bumsy fingers. Kiera Knightley (and I'm not kidding) is quite good.
