Review of The Jacket (2005) by Josh R — 16 Feb 2009
An interesting film for sure. I did enjoy it, but I felt that this film wasn't following it's own rules. Time Travel is a very tricky genre and things must come together to make sense, and this film while most parts make sense it brings up a few paradoxes that couldn't have possibly happened in the first place.
Overall, it's an enjoyable film if you don't think about it too hard. I thought Brody was great, Daniel Craig gives a great supporting performance, and most shockingly: I actually liked Keira Knightley stepping out of her period film typecasting and she gives a good performance.
Overall, I did enjoy the film. My gripe is that it doesn't make sense. I understood what happened and why it happened, but I just don't understand how it happened in the first place. It just kinda ignores alot.
I liked the tone of the picture and I thought it was just right and the director did a fantastic job with the vibe. I just think the script needed more polishing plot-wise. Overall, I'd say its a RENTAL! Good movie!
