Review of The Jacket (2005) by Ellen T — 19 Dec 2009
This one's interesting but some how like the story itself you may feel a little lost and slightly overwhelmed with how little this film makes sense at times. I've heard it closely resembles another movie on the same lines called Jacob's Ladder which have not seen yet but I will now. This is an unusual one with bits of delusion with an odd hypnotic nature.
*Spoilers*.
Adrien Brody plays Jack Starks a veteran of the gulf war who struggles with fits of amnesia and PTSD. After almost dieing from a gun shot wound to the head he is put in a mental hospital for the suspected killing of a police officer. In the Asylum he undergoes a form of mental torture by the hands of a doctor's experimental treatment. While in a type of isolation chamber in the basement morgue strapped in a jacket he has visions of past and future experiences causing him to make choices to affect the outcome of life itself.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started watching this film and it ended nearly the same way. I enjoyed the acting of nearly all the actors especially Daniel Craig and Adrien. This movie left me pleased I felt it was wrapped up nicely even if it was a little foreseen. If you are sick of seeing the same types of movies lately and would like a change check this one out it was a curious one.
