Review of The Jacket (2005) by Boris Nicolas E — 02 Apr 2011
Somewhere deep in this movie is a message of living life in the right way. I think the film is getting at the question of if you knew what was coming next in your life, what would you do about it. The performances are real, but the plot is confusing, muddled, and clouds the issues at the heart.
The relationship between Brody and Knightley is weird and the fact that he was a soldier is really just a misused plot point intending to only get us to the mind bending part. Feels like a seizure at times and is just not a good movie in the fullest sense other then seeing Knightley and Craig out of the box.
The story ends up being much like Brody in the jacket he's wearing - trapped.
