Review of The Jackal (1997) by Mike B — 06 Feb 2008
One of my guilty cinema pleasures is 90s "smart action" movies, you know the kind. not the really stupid action stuff but the ones that try to seem sophisticated and cool, and some even pull it off.
they usually have at least two big names on the bill, involve either russian, arab, or irish terrorists and somehow involve using one bad man to catch a badder man. here, gere has an annoyingly distracting irish accent, willis is cool as a cucumber, and of course, sidney poitier does what all older, distinguished, black actors did in the 90s: played FBI high-ups that ultimately save the day.
I dont know, its a fun 90s action movie, whadda ya want?
