Review of The Jackal (1997) by Olive M — 19 Apr 2013
Poor substitute for the original but if you are a shoot-'em-up fan who loves gore, it may impress you. In the original though, which is far different and has political conflicts anyone might actually care about, you have Edward Fox, who was an adonis.
You might only be reading this because you wonder if you dare watch what someone didn't quite dare to make as a remake; obviously, they realized they probably couldn't best the classic. But if you thought you might like a Gere-Willis pairing which does sound nice but you wish to avoid embarrassment, you might be grateful to get pointed instead toward the 1973 original, The Day of the Jackal.
Take a look at its tomatometer to see if I'm wrong.
