Review of The Italian Job (2003) by Jacob R — 04 Apr 2015

I had high hopes for this movie based on the poster and the plot, but it only met my expectations. The Italian Job had a really great cast of characters that had great chemistry working together. The acting isn't groundbreaking really, it's just purely solid work, which you can kinda describe the movie as being that way as well.

This is a good, entertaining movie but there wasn't anything that surprised me at all throughout the whole movie. I wasn't surprised one bit that Steve would get caught in the end which rightfully shouldn't be a spoiler to anyone.

I wasn't surprised that Charlie and Stella would get together in the end. It's painfully obvious! The plot focuses on a group of 6 robbers that plan on stealing this massive amount of gold but find out that there's a traitor on their team and kills their leader.

This story could be described as an action movie plot or a revenge story even. The whole story following the retrieval of the gold was fun but got way too confusing once the store owner was killed. People that have no relevance to the story come in and take care of Steve.

I mean it felt good to see that jerk get what he deserves but it would've been more satisfying to see one of the main protagonists take care of him. While I do have these issues with The Italian Job, I really had fun with this movie.

The characters were fun, the car chases are fun, I was never bored and that's really what movies are about. I was interested and invested in the story for sure! The ending was super predictable but in the end I had fun with The Italian Job.
