Review of The Italian Job (2003) by Kyle G — 01 Jul 2012
Even after another viewing nearly a decade later, it's still a dull and embarrassing non-starter. The action is swift and usually pretty kickass, but everything beside it is lazy and middling. After every smartass comment (I hate to call it dialogue), there's a smash cut to another character smirking, chuckling, or laughing uproariously to show their approval.
Mark Wahlberg is a plain douche as always; Statham, Green, and Def are okay but too caught up on laughs; Charlize Theron is vapidly sexy; Edward Norton is the saving grace as the monotonous but very deeply-colored villain.
