Review of The Italian Job (2003) by Appu B — 08 Jul 2012
A very fun and entertaining heist film from director F. Gary Gray. The Italian Job is a great caper film that features awesome performances from its ensemble cast including Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Edward Norton and Jason Statham.
The story was very well paced and was easy to follow. This film showcases some of the very best heist scenes I have ever seen on film, from the opening "Italian Job" with the twist that sets the plot into play all the way until the now famous ending heist featuring one of the coolest, savvy and swift car chases of all time with the 3 mini coops.
Norton proves to be a great villian as always and Wahlberg is great as the team leader, the badass, hard hitter, no nonsense guy. And Jason Statham in this early flick is a scene stealer. I have yet to see the original version of this film but I am pretty sure this film will be able to hold its ground, a very stylish, slick and cool heist picture.
