Its a classic, but its a movie filled with one liners, and one of the most boring and drawn out car chases ever. You get to a certain point and think your watching a commercial. Maybe this reflects the films effect on society.
This film made me respect Michael Caine. Certainly a film you have to see purely for the cultness of it.
