Review of The Italian Job (1969) by Susan B — 01 Nov 2009
I don't know what the people who made the remake were thinking. This movie is NOTHING like the new Italian Job with Mark Walhberg, and I LOVED it for that. This film is more of a madcap caper than action movie (although it has an awesome car chase sequence that would rival anything modern Hollywood could throw at you).
Typical of a lot of the 1960s British films of the time, it gives you a sense of what Austin Powers was satirizing. Michael Caine is hilarious, and the ending will leave you in stitches.
