Review of The Italian Job (1969) by Alex C — 12 Dec 2009
I decided I wanted to see this mostly because of all the riffs Eddie Izzard had made about it. It wasn't a great viewing decision. It's almost like this film is composed of four other types of films: a race-to-the-finish heist film, a James Bond-type fast-cars-and-women-and-chauvinism romp, an insider take on prison and organized crime, and a British comedy.
And while it's occasionally fun and more than occasionally funny, I really didn't enjoy it as a whole.
