Review of The Island at the Top of the World (1974) by Owen C — 03 Mar 2008
What you have to understand is, I had an epiphany when I saw it in the theater as a kid. I had no idea what was going to happen next and it occurred to me that some person had written it and had planned the whole story.
It turns out the person that wrote it was Joss Wheadon's grandfather! The experience made me want to learn how to make movies. Some great painted effects and some quirky ideas but itâ??s really just meant for kids and the pacing seems odd as an adult.
Now that Iâ??m an old man and can often tell a movies plot in the first 5 minutes, I remember the feeling of wonder this film gave me in that dark theater. So this movie just holds great nostalgic value for me.
