Review of The Island (2007) by Pa3Pyx - — 07 Jul 2011
Set in the Solovetsky Monastery on the White Sea (northern Russia), this is a great fiction story of a monastic, fool-for-Christ Father Alexander and those with him. Believing to having murdered his own captain Tikhon during World War II under pressure from Nazis when their barge is boarded, Alexander, squarely escaping the barge's destruction, is found ashore by the monks of Solovetsky Islands and spends the rest of his life there in repentance, to ultimately find that, before he passes away, he is forgiven.
The script is all in Russian. To my knowledge, no official English translation is available.
