A Russian man becomes a monk and lives an ascetic life because he thinks that he shot and killed his captain during WWII. I like many things about this movie, but I will choose one line of dialogue that I deem important: "I feared death because I had little faith.
" Let go of the unnecessary things in life and strive for the necessary things, and you will become closer to God.
