Review of The Iron Lady (2011) by Daniel K — 13 May 2012
3: Solid picture, but nothing particularly special. As always, Meryl Streep is completely subsumed by the character. There is nary a trace of any of Streep character in her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher.
She really is amazing. She approaches or attains perfection in every performance. Apart from her brilliance, but film is well done, but it is also uninspiring. It seems somehow drained of energy and vitality, as if it wasn't essential to the filmmakers to put this story on-screen.
I doubt they feel this way, but that's how they made me feel. It's one of those film that is spoken well of, but then quickly forgotten, or at least that's my initial impression. It may actually not even deserve 3 stars.
