Review of The Iron Giant (1999) by Maddie M — 08 Aug 2015
Back before he directed 'The Incredibles', Brad Bird was the director on this movie, that I managed to miss seeing in the cinema on its original release, and only recently caught it on TV.
With - refreshingly - no song and dance numbers, this animated movie is.
Set in the late '50s America. The Iron Giant of the title is a (surprise surprise!) Giant Iron Machine that crash lands in small-town America, with a dented head that has given it (the machine equivalent of) amnesia.
The story then tells of a friendship that grows up between said giant and a local kid called Hogarth, while the threat is supplied in the form of the US government, and one agent in particular who is keen to capture and destroy the robot fearing it threatens their way of life.
