Bond is taken down to earth, hence altercations in local supermarkets and seduction scenes whilst cooking the dinner. Even so, it feels like The Avengers more often than not, which is a good thing. And despite over 40 years of questionable adulation, Michael Caine's first leading role is still his finest.
