Review of The Ipcress File (1965) by Patrick R — 24 Jan 2009
This was a highly stylish film in 1965, but that's the thing about highly stylish films --- now, it appears rather dated. The odd camera angles seem contrived, although the grittiness of a lot of the scenes is refreshing in this era when most movies of this sort are, well, stylish.
Michael Caine is always worth watching. Nigel Green, who was a standout in "Zulu," comes across as an odd duck here. Perhaps it's his place in the plot, but there was something about his performance, or maybe it was his moustache, that, for me, was off-putting.
