Review of The Invitation (2016) by Andreas W — 10 Apr 2016
While the movie fails to deliver an exciting experience, it succeeds in looking like a fashion movie or an advertisement for a golden wrapped chocolate snack. It's one of those movies where the director seems to be trying to avoid clichees but ends up in creating an experience that lacks the most basic things a movie needs to have to "not be boring". It's a back an forth of a suspicion-game that fails to keep the tension throughout. By the time you reached the ending, which was pretty predictable, you might have lost all interest in any possible outcome anyway.
This could have been an intresting experience if they dropped the story down to 60 minutes, and continued to build up on the plot, that is established by ending, but then it would not be intimate play and much more expensive.
