Review of The Invitation (2016) by Marlena D — 30 Apr 2016
A phenomenal thriller that excels in building and sustaining tension. By playing on the idea of grief and using an unreliable narrator, the film creates extreme paranoia and suspicion with its own odd language.
While the pay-off could have been played out more (one of the rare thrillers that could have been 20 minutes longer), this is ultimately a film that is written and directed with phenomenal craft, while a game cast, lead by Logan Marshall-Green, do a great job of playing in the space.
