Review of The Invitation (2016) by Alec B — 13 May 2016
An extremely effective slow burn thriller. Misdirection and red herrings can get tiresome quickly, but "The Invitation" plays the audience so well (via some really strong performances and dialogue) that you'll just stop trying to figure out what's happening and go along with the twisty plot.
The climax, which turns more predictable, is disappointing but the final shot is so unsettling that I'm willing to forgive a lot of those flaws.
