Review of The Invitation (2016) by Antoine D — 24 Aug 2016
Despite being pretty predictable(I didn't see that little twist at the end coming though. Great twist btw!) the movie is really well produced and acted. Great soundtrack and everything else was really well done too.
Minus 1 star for the mandatory mixed-race couple that doesn't even tie into the plot. Although I guess I could see it as some projection of the dudes relapse into going back to being a SWPL who needs to show off his black girlfriend to virtue signal his superior moral status after losing his son(not really a spoiler) and marriage, going from nuclear family man back to single urbanite hipster seeing as it also shows that he didn't grow the hipsterish beard out until after his son died.
That's probably all bullshit though so it still gets a star subtracted :P.
