Review of The Invitation (2016) by Mahamuda R — 18 Dec 2017
I wanted to watch this movie because of the director. And I think in terms of direction, the movie was brilliant. The building up of tension is a little bit long, but that is the charm of a good psychological thriller. As an audience, I was almost on the verge of believing that Will was the person who was going to cause trouble because of his paranoia. And then, the climax happened and thankfully the blood and gore did not last for a long time, as the usual thrillers love to do.
The part I liked best is how Will was revisiting and refacing his trauma. The build-up is also flawless. But, I must confront it was not as packed and gripping as I expected it would be. Dialogues could be stronger to make it so. But the charisma of shots saved the day!
