Review of The Invisible Woman (2013) by Jerry K — 30 Apr 2014
"The Invisible Woman" is a slow moving well-acted film about the relationship of Charles Dickens and a much younger - not very capable - actress Nelly Ternan. By the time the film ended we found ourselves asking more questions than the film answers.
There is a lot of silence and "eye-talking" throughout. Ralph Feinnes is just excellent as Dickens, Felicity Jones is remarkable as Nelly, and the always excellent Kristin Scott Thomas dominates her scenes as Nelly's beleaguered mother.
If you are a Dickens fan, this film is a must. Beautifully filmed, but again, very slow moving.
