Review of The Invisible Ray (1936) by Mark S — 16 May 2008
A scientist discovers a mysterious new element, Radium X, which has tremendous healing AND destructive properties. But in the process, he develops deadly radioactive powers. It has a cool little story and it brings together the top horror stars of the 30s.
Karloff in particular does a nice job. Still, it's pretty much par for the course for most of the Universal horror movies being made at the time, nothing too special. Pretty dated too, especially all of the scenes set in Africa.
But if you don't take the story or anything else too seriously, it manages to be kinda fun.
