Review of The Invention of Lying (2009) by Tinus D — 27 Jan 2011
The Invention Of Lying was straight away a very clever and original story. It's Ricky Gervais's first directorial feature length film along with Matthew Robinson. Of course, I was automatically interested because of Ricky Gervais, as I am a huge fan. Anyway, this film did not disappoint as expected!! It's quite a thought-provoker. It also expands Rick Gervais as an actor. There is an amazing scene which made me cry as his performance was just so emotional.
Anyway, onto the comedic side of things :D it was hilarious, Ricky was great as always. Jonah Hill once again is brilliant and plays a great character. Jennifer Garner was very funny, although quite unloveable and at points we wonder why Gervais' character likes her in the first place. But nevertheless. Jeffrey Tambor I thought was hilarious. The scene when he goes past the door an amount of times just really tickled me! Rob Lowe played a very unlikeable character, and in a very funny way. The cameos throughout were thoroughly enjoyable, especially one in particular, but I shall not say because it shall spoil the surprise.
This film is shall make you laugh hysterically and is GUARANTEED to make you smile constantly :).
