Review of The Invention of Lying (2009) by Greg P — 11 Dec 2011
This movie started off really funny and then took on a more dramatic, emotional tone about two-thirds through. There is an impressive cast here, especially some sweet cameos. The story is pretty original and it's cool to see a world where everyone tells the truth, although I'm not sure why they are all as forthcoming as they are.
Gervais is great as Mark and he shows some real emotion in parts, especially when dealing with his dying mom. It is also interesting to see how people not familiar with anyone lying take what one man says as faith and religion is born.
If you're a fan of Gervais at all, check it out.
