Review of The Invention of Lying (2009) by Delol S — 12 Mar 2012
I liked it. I thought it could have been more bold, but I liked it. There were laughs, but I liked it. A few great scenes, a few drawn-out to far, many were just the right length, but I liked it. The acting was enjoyable, but nothing new, cause I wasn't looking for anything new, so I liked it.
'Course my Christian friends never even gave it a chance, 'cause of the implications of a fictitious universe created without a creator. They hated it. Right off the bat, without watching any of it. Didn't even give it a shot, were upset that "good ol' Ricky" could ever be so offensive.
They were offended that even a made up world inhabited by made up characters didn't' contain a god, even though (ironically) this world did have a creator and it's characters were fated to do as they were scripted. I was surprised, and their offense prompted me to take another look and I'll admit: even though this message was lackluster to me, if it's mild message could enrage such a faithful few, what was I missing?
Anyway, like I said: I liked it.
