Review of The Invention of Lying (2009) by Dan S — 27 Jul 2012
This movie annoyingly straddles the border of potent black comedy and boring, cliched romantic crowd-pleaser. When it takes a step into black comedy territory, this film is fantastic and hilarious. But Gervais never really takes the all-out plunge into kick-ass dark comedy and the film suffers for that.
I never thought I would say this but Ricky Gervais really needs to step up his edginess. For shame, sir.
