Review of The Invention of Lying (2009) by Fred V — 01 Apr 2013
The permetations of what can be acheived from this subject matter is exciting. It started a bit odd, that to me, although people in this civilization do not lie, they have instead developed a cruel and tactless desire to be openly honest about private things without even being prompted.
Why would a waiter introduce himself by following up with how embarrssed he is about his job? Also I found the general public just being plain daft rather than people that just do not lie. But mainly for me, this was an ego rush for Gervais as he flirts with the possible interpretation of him being a messiah.
Enjoyable, lost it's way, and could have been better.
