Review of The Invasion (2007) by Mike P — 05 May 2009
I absolutly had no desire what so ever to see this 4th version of Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. But with nothing on t.v. and it playing on HBO, I thought I would give it at least a half hour of my time. And iam glad I did. Its not that bad at all. THat half hour led to the whole film. Its no were in the same league as the original and the first remake starring Donald Sutherland and Leonard Nimoy (which by the way is one of my all time favorite horror films).
At least this one did try to bring something different to the story. You can not become 'snatched' unless directtly infected by bodily fluids. And then when you are asleep will your whole genetic makeup restructure itself. So essentialy your still the same person, it just changes your personality. So there is no duplicate body.Thats right no pods here. And Sadly None of that scary ass Snatcher screaming either.
But the biggest flaw in the film comes from Nicole Kidman who couldnt carry this film if her Aussie ass depended on it.
But this still had its moments. So its not a total waste unlike the Abel Ferrer version which is utter shit! Worth checking out with low expectations.
