Review of The Invasion (2007) by Dave A — 16 Jun 2009
An insulting remake at best that's given the Hollywood treatment. In today's cinema marketplace, we're watching movies that don't get a chance to have subtlety speak for itself but the masses are force fed plot tidbits you can figure out every second of the way.
Look no further than this uninspiring retread of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, which so Hollywoodizes the brilliance of the '56 & '78 versions to the point where you already know the ending.
A schlock value movie that goes for gimmicks instead of real horror. Worse is that it's director is Oliver Hirschbiegel, who made a strong impression with Downfall, a German export that details the last days of Adolf Hitler's crumbling empire.
