Review of The Invasion (2007) by Mick W — 08 Nov 2009
Good movie. A modern update of 'The Body Snatchers'. for the most part was entertaining. Nicole Kidman actually did a really good job. the kid did a good job. Craig did a good job. Jeffrey Wright was good also.
After awhile though, the whole thing becomes a bit bland and repetitive. They aren't supposed to express emotion, but why does the ex-husband show a display of emotion when he locks Kidman and the kid in that room?!? A lot of things were unclear also.
How and when did Daniel Craig get turned? He actually had enough time to fall asleep, enter REM, then wake up an alien??!? Why does it show Nicole Kidman's cells changing, then she wakes up and she is still normal? did only half of the process finish? I wish they would have explained more where the virus came from.
I briefly heard a mention of some incident involving a crashed ship that made the virus spread or something. There are many loose ends that leave you confused. Overall it was a good watch. but I recommend indulging yourself in the original works.
Whether it be the original book or any of the first movie versions. Then watch this one. Also, why doesn't the virus spread to animals? Is it just a human thing? who knows, watch it and guess for yourself.
3-starz.
