Review of The Invasion (2007) by Matthew R — 05 Apr 2010
If you know the basic plot because you've seen one of the three other versions of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers", you know the story here is strong. Unfortunately, this movie doesn't live up to the story. For a movie that should be all paranoia and suspense, it was a remarkably gentle ride. I think I was actually scared once the entire film. It wasn't unpleasant to watch, just no where near as good as it should be. Also, the director does this strange trick of doing "flash forwards" of the action sequences, instead of actually doing the action sequence. I don't know if this was to save time or what, but it didn't work. The Invasion is a ok remake with good lead actors but suffers from a confusing plot and predictable direction.
