Review of The Invasion (2007) by Jim M — 02 Nov 2011
Invasion of the Body Snatchers round 5 with the pods being replaced with Microbes and set in the Washington D.C. area.
Pretty standard Body Snatcher, like all versions the Body Snatched seem to shift back and forth between emotionless Android and a Zombie depending on the requierments of the plot. Nicole Kidman is good as the lead exuding that upper class aristocratic detachment that makes me want to nail her so bad....shit I mean she's sold as the single mother desperatly trying to save her child. Daniel Craig was appaerntly Body Snatched before filming began because I sure as shit couldn't tell the difference between him and the aliens, and Jeffrey Wrights on hand to provide the exposition on how the spores do their thing and how to kill them. Basically on par with the other versions of this story my instinct to jump on this films fault is tempered by the knowledge that Oliver Hirschbiegel's (the director) film underwent reshoots written by the Wachowski's and directed by James McTeague, on the orders of the studio. I might be wrong but my gut tells me a better film was left on the cutting room floor.
