Review of The Intouchables (2011) by Maitiú Ó — 05 Feb 2013
Intouchables is a heartwarming story of friendship, but what hits it home for me is how exceptionally grounded it feels thanks to a beautiful score (that theme music in the beginning & end is quite transportive) and great acting. The movie feels compact; it never gets carried away with comedy or melodrama and manages to leave a strong mark.
There is word of a Hollywood adaptation. It would take some serious set of skills to recreate the atmosphere & characters in this movie. The two leads are so wonderful in their respective roles that I would deem it criminal at this point to recreate any of their work.
Unfortunately, money & the lack of American interest in subtitles is a driving force, but that shouldn't stop anyone from giving this excellent film a watch.
