Review of The Interview (2014) by Dohel A — 23 Feb 2015
I'm not going to state that this movie is solid, because truthfully it isn't; this however has been somewhat of a constant in the Rogen/Franco movies both as a unit or independently of each other.
Like many movies in the past, two decades or so, the measure of quality viewing dangles on what the mindset of the audience is, and quite frankly I think the press that carried over this film did a good job at lowering expectations.
I sat there enjoying a silly film that parodies a serious issue at the risk of being tasteless and offensive (remember hot shots?) and I got my money's worth. I did not expect a classic comedy nor did I expect anything classier than toilet humor and profanity.
Simply put, the movie worked where it need to work and failed where it was expected to fail, no surprises, just take your favorite snack and beverage, watch the movie with no critical sense and enjoy it for what it is; a funny movie to burn two hours on.
Not everything needs to be Citizen Kane.
