Review of The Interview (2014) by Movieguys — 30 Dec 2014
The Interview, upon first glance, might look like an offensive, stupid, incompetent piece of lowbrow cinema representing freedom of speech. And that's exactly what I thought it was gonna be going in. Despite the controversy and people saying it's great, I had my doubts.
But, the movie actually isn't bad at all. I would've liked it to be more satirical with less erection jokes, but it made me laugh plenty of time. Of course, comedy team Rogen and Franco always go for the low blows, but considering this is an ongoing crisis, the film could've been made with more competence.
Other than that, it almost never failed to entertain me in some way, even if it got overly ridiculous towards the end (yes, obviously it was ridiculous to begin with, but the denouement could've been more pronounced and neat).
If you like this sort of thing, by all means get this for $6 on your laptop, or go to a theater near you that has the balls to show it. But if you think it was a stupid idea to make this movie in the first place, you may want to skip this one.
