Review of The Interview (2014) by Garret I — 17 Mar 2015
I'd call this movie juvenile but it would be an insult to the juveniles. It's just one long-running gag that makes the viewer do just that -- gag on it. In good art, so-called obscene words and acts help propel the theme or story line.
Here, The Interview simply stuffs in more than I would have thought possible as poor stand-ins for humor. It's unfortunate that the pre-release hack and resulting furor made this a must-see for so many.
Yet instead of standing as an argument for free speech, The Interview could backfire -- as a call for self-censorship among bad filmmakers.
