Review of The Interpreter (2005) by Nicole M — 23 May 2010
Meh. An interpreter happens to overhear something that turns out to be a death threat against her African homelands evil dictator. Thus, she happens to have her own grudge. She eventually bonds with a secret service agent and conspiracies happen and all that.
As I have seen seven seasons of 24, political thrillers seem quite simple these days without the 8 hours of twists and turns. In The Interpreter, everything needs to be explained and everyone has to be profoundly traumatized to be able to express some humanity in form of sadness, anger, whatever. The secret service agent can relate to the interpreter only because of his resent loss etc. It might be okay on paper but I'm not that thrilled to watch it on screen. I was bored. Also, the emphasis of the story was too much on the relationship of the two.
